ZOE THE INSPIRAT

For this block we needed to make scenario’s for the future. In our future Zoe is the protagonist and with my group we made four stories about Zoe in different scenario’s. This story is my story about Zoe it’s fictive but maybe the reality in the future. The story is based on scenario trend watching and on uncertainties.

The story
It all started with you feeling something should happen about the position of the big enterprises in the industrial agriculture. To explain it shortly, you want the world to be healthier. You are not the type to just sit around and wait for things to get better. One night, while looking for a way to get your message across, you met Zoë.

Here you are, the year 2025 and you’re living in an inner city, having an own green-rooftop farm with the other residents and an industrial apartment with your roommate Zoë. Life seems to have gotten a lot tougher over the last year. At least it did for you. A couple of months ago Zoë has convinced you to join some kind of environment movement; but really it feels more like a big and warm family. They say they are the legacy of the Turbojugend and will not watch quietly while the innocence is taken out of the world. They all are constantly dressed in denim, like to have a beer or two and always strive to live life to the fullest. But most important, they do not tolerate racism, fascism and the dominant position of the big enterprises, as you can read from their slogan: treat your brothers and sisters like brothers and sisters. They learned from the past, instead of protesting, their goal is to co-create with the authorities and farmers.

‘It is all about honesty’ says Zoë one day before your first meeting with the Inspirates. ’Food is the most important thing to be honest about; it shouldn’t be such a big commodity. We really believe in this cause, so we live up to it. We grow our own fruits and vegetables, using some of the newest techniques to support us. We mean not necessarily to persuade people to our way of living, we just want to give notice that there is another way of living.’

Tonight you will be joining a meeting with the ‘pirates of inspiration’, Unilever and some local famers. Convincing this big enterprise to join their movement by co-creation with local farmers. Creating an opportunity to join the vibe they like living in the most: good music, good food, good people and a good life.

Conceptstatement
The Sustainable Food Center is the connecting between small-scale agriculture, industrial agriculture and the city residents.

Concept
The Sustainable Food Center will become the key between small-scale agriculture, industrial agriculture and the city residents. It will become the most important key to connect the authorities, local farmers and the city residents. At the Sustainable Food Center, there will be space to consult for them, to think about new innovative projects in the city and to make the city healthier.

How does Zoë the Inspirat think in 2025 about small-scale agriculture?
Small-scale agriculture for Zoë means, growing your own fruits and vegetables on your own rooftop with other residents of the city. The industrial agriculture is the main thing because they need to feed the whole city. For Zoë it is important to make a connecting with small-scale agriculture, industrial agriculture and the city residents. To her that is key for small-scale agriculture.
